‘A place where I feel heard, trusted and respected’ – Rachel Goodall

Since joining BellchambersBarrett in 2020, Rachel Goodall has seen the firm more than double in size – and her own career grow alongside it.

Thanks to Rachel for sharing her story with us.

Finding the right fit

I moved to Canberra from Melbourne a few years ago, ready for a change of pace and a workplace that felt more personal.

Coming from a big audit firm, I was excited about joining a smaller, fast-growing team where I could really shape my career and grow with the business.

And BellchambersBarrett turned out to be exactly that place.

From Senior Accountant to Senior Manager

Since starting at the firm, I’ve progressed from Senior Accountant to Senior Manager. It’s been rewarding to grow with the firm and see our team expand from about 50 people to more than 100.

Soon after I joined, I expressed interest in audit quality. And it wasn’t long before I got the chance to run with it. Today, I help lead our quality and training team, making sure we’ve got solid systems in place to deliver high standards, support our people and stay ahead of an ever- changing environment.

Along the way, I’ve become a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. I’ve also enjoyed plenty of travel, thanks to the job!

A culture built on respect and trust

At BellchambersBarrett, it’s amazing how much trust and flexibility everyone gets.

Here, you can choose the type of work you’re interested in, whether that’s external audit, internal audit, advisory or firm-wide roles. And you have the autonomy to do things your own way, with support always there if you need it.

The office really does feel like a second home sometimes (no hot-desking here!) – with a culture that encourages genuine friendships.

Truly, this is a place where I feel heard, trusted and respected. And I cannot wait to continue to grow with the firm.
