Rowing, rivalry and real teamwork
At BellchambersBarrett, we’re all about getting out of our comfort zones. Whether that’s in the boardroom… or on the water.
And that’s exactly what we did when we joined our client, Red Shed, for their Corporate Supporters Regatta – a 10-week rowing challenge that culminated in a fast-paced race on Lake Burley Griffin.
From landlocked to lake-ready
With just two experienced members in our rowing team, we knew we had a lot to learn – from syncing our strokes to keeping our balance.
So each Friday at 6 am, our crew showed up to train at the state-of-the-art Red Shed facility on Black Mountain Peninsula.
And the dedication paid off. By week eight, we were rowing together as a full crew. Which could only mean one thing: it was time to race.
Sunshine, champagne and sprinting
The event showcased some serious team spirit – and, of course, a little light-hearted rivalry.
Alongside teams from O’Neill & Brown, Elevated, National Australia Bank, Trek Bicycles, Amalgamated Property Group and more, we went head-to-head in a 350m knockout sprint.
In the end, our client Construction Control came out on top. But every team – especially ours, if we say so ourselves – brought impeccable teamwork and unstoppable energy to the water.
Back on land, our lakeside marquee was the perfect hub for our supporters, complete with charcuterie boards, picnic rugs and kids splashing in the shallows. Plus a few bottles to toast our efforts, naturally.
Celebrating in true BB style
The day finished with a fantastic celebratory dinner at the Red Shed’s Telopea Room, where everyone shared stories, clinked glasses and reflected on the challenge.
We were proud to support Red Shed, an incredible community facility. And we were just as proud of the teamwork, perseverance and fun our crew brought to every single session.
Beyond the race, this entire experience was really about connection – with our colleagues, clients and community.
And it’s events like these that remind us: the strength of our team goes far beyond the office.
